B. R. Dionysius was the founding Director of the Queensland Poetry Festival. His poetry has been widely published in literary journals, anthologies, newspapers and online, both in Australia and overseas. He is the author of one artist’s book, The Barflies’ Chorus, published in 1995 and four poetry collections, Fatherlands in 2000, Bacchanalia in 2002 and Bowra and Weranga, which were both published in 2013.

He has also published a verse novel, Universal Andalusia with SOI 3 in 2006, and two chapbooks, The Negativity Bin with PressPress in 2010 and The Curious Noise of History with Picaro Press in 2011. Critical State, his ninth poetry collection, was published in September 2022 by Calanthe Press. He won the 2009 Max Harris Poetry Award, was joint winner of the 2011 Whitmore Press Manuscript Prize and was short-listed in the 2017 Montreal International Poetry Prize. He lives in Brisbane, teaches English, and in his spare time watches birds.
