Emily Tsokos Purtill

Emily Tsokos Purtill lives in Perth/Boorloo and is a writer and former lawyer of Greek heritage. She has lived overseas in the UK, Vancouver, Paris and New York. Her creative non-fiction, flash fiction, short fiction and poetry have been awarded and published in Australia and the United States, including in Westerly and Griffith Review. In 2023, Emily was longlisted for the Griffith Review Emerging Voices Competition and in 2024, she was the winner with the essay Know Thyself. It will be published in 2025.

Emily’s debut literary fiction novel MATIA follows four generations of Greek-Australian women and was released by UWA Publishing in October 2024.
