Jim A. Barker is a photographer with a penchant for reflecting the essence of life, character and beauty in all its forms. With a background in professional communications, he knows how to translate the ephemeral into the tangible: An idea into an image, a thought into a moment, light into emotion. As a photographer within his business, Twelve Points Photography, He has worked with Lifeline and Amazon and has appeared in local, national and international publications such as The Guardian and The Australian.
He received recognition from around the globe for his photographic exhibition, Doortraits in 2020. The 60+ documentative portraits – made during COVID-19 lockdowns – gave people connection when there was little and raised funds for mental health along the way. Having since relocated to the bush to develop his career as a full-time freelance photographer, Jim resides on 100 acres of dry sclerophyll with his wife, two dogs and too many possums.
