Rita Tognini is a WA writer of poetry and short fiction. Her work has been published in collections and journals and has received commendations and prizes. Her poetry has been published in Australian Poetry Anthology, Cordite, Creatrix, Eureka Street, Cuttlefish, Imago, Journal of the International Centre for Landscape and Language, Overland, Revista Interdisciplinar de Literatura e Ecocrítica (RILE), The Enchanting Verses, Uneven Floor, Westerly, Writpoetryreview and other journals. In 2018, Rita was selected for the WA Four Centres Emerging Writer Program. She is preparing a poetry collection and has completed a short fiction collection.
Rita was born in Italy and aged six migrated to Western Australia with her parents. She worked as a teacher in schools and universities, and as a public servant. She is a member of a number of writers’ organisations and is currently the secretary of the Out of the Asylum (OOTA) writers’ group.
