After three weeks dropping
down the dose curve, their
pink scored ellipse’s bitterness
that bites the tongue
then melts to liquid blackness
to make night’s work
an easy run of sleep
and eases off the ratchet
of day’s angst,
begins to taste
as good as gin,
sweet like radicchio:
welcome home, the tongue
says, do come in.
